3/7/2005: The Great Schlatter Flood. So the washing machine was on while we slept, filling the house with water for over 3 hours. Luckily Katie woke up because she was too warm. She put her foot down and "SPLASH!" This was 12:45 AM and 75-80% of the house was flooded. In the images that follow, the ones with "dark" carpet is where standing water occured. Everywhere else the mat was soaked and the carpet squishy.

The couch. Like a sponge, it soaked up the water. I went straight to Wal-mart to get a wet-vac and was getting rid of water by 1:05 AM. Over 4 hours later and I have taken out over 150 gallons of water, but there was still at least that much in the house.

Our master closet flooded. Katie saved the shoes. Many of our clothes got wet but at least it was clean water.

The dining room table and china hutch before we got bricks under them and before I evacuated a lot of the water. The hutch took on some water but will be okay we think.
